If you want some additional decorations for your Halloween party, but you are running out of cash, you just need a little creativity and basic materials to fill that void. This draft paper basket is very simple and cheap to make. Most people probably do crafts often have all the materials at hand. It is also a great project to keep the kids busy and happy while awaiting the arrival of Halloween.

Template for Shopping

Print out the template for the paper basket included in this step. You must click on the image to view printable version. Cut the template in solid lines with scissors, using a ruler to make straight cuts.

Place the template on a piece of construction paper in orange. Trace the outline of the cut areas with a pencil and draw a line around the outside edge of the template. Lift the tabs to make a line along adjacent sides. Cut the construction paper orange along the lines.

Use the template as a guide to where to fold the construction paper in orange. Fold along each edge of the central square, then fold each tab.

Draw two pumpkins on a piece of white construction paper. Draw features a carved pumpkin a pumpkin stem and stretch marks with a black permanent marker. Color the picture with red, orange and yellow pencils. Use the pencils to create shadows along the grooves of the pumpkin to make it look more dimensional. Paste pumpkin designs on both sides of the paper basket with a glue stick.

Cut two faces cat on black construction paper. Check that the faces have some form of heart and two pointed ears in each upper corner. Draw four almond eyes and two noses semi-circular white construction paper. Color the eyes with a green pencil and pink nose, and then cut them out. Paste them to the cat faces and then paste the designs to the remaining two sides of the basket.

Paste each flange to the rear side next to it with a glue. Cut a strip of orange cardstock about 9 inches (22 cm) long and 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide. Paste it inside the paper basket. If you’re planning a Halloween party, make several of these baskets. Fill them with candy, toys or potpourri.
