As has happened many times throughout the history of art, this style was the result of a lack of inspiration or creativity of the moment. New theories and new aesthetics were to be the basis of change. Art Nouveau was a great exponent of architecture. Its development was mainly between 1890 and 1900 in Europe. In Latin America was developed much later (1920 approx.).
Both the architecture and decoration of the buildings would be heavily marked with this style in the structure and ornamentation. The naturalistic decoration (flowers, leaves, bones, animals) overcomes the functional elements.
