Costa Rica (meaning “rich coast” in Spanish), officially the Republic of Costa Rica, is a country in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua to the north, Panama to the southeast, the Pacific Ocean to the west, and the Caribbean Sea to the east.
Costa Rica is home to one of the world’s most beautiful landscapes, nature parks, volcanoes and beaches. There is a lot to keep you busy for weeks, after which you can relax on numerous of the beaches, both at the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
The Cocos Island National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in the Pacific Ocean over 500 kilometers from the mainland of Costa Rica and is famous for its spectacular diving with chances to see sharks, big tunas, rays and dolphins. Apart from the marine ecosystem there is very dense rain forest on the island itself with a very rich biodiversity. It doesn’t come cheap to visit this place, but it is well worth the effort and money.
