Christmas cactus flowers
Christmas cacti are beautiful indoor plants that bloom in December, just for the holidays. They are considered tropical and need special care, unlike some similar. You have to pay special attention to the buds and flowers every year. There are a few reasons why flowers wilt, which also causes the buds fall.

light
During the winter and fall, hold the cactus in a window with direct sunlight. However, during the rest of the year, the plant needs indirect light or passing through a filter. You must have at least 13 hours of darkness daily from mid-September until mid-November or, otherwise, the buds will not form, or, if they do, will fall. However, if you keep the cactus in a room where the temperature is 55 degrees Fahrenheit (13 degrees Celsius), you are not required 13 hours of darkness.
water
The leaves will fall when the plant is not getting enough water. If the soil is dry, it will also affect the buds. The soil needs to be moist during winter and summer, but dry to the touch in autumn and spring, before adding water. When you water the cactus, avoid wetting the leaves. Use water that is room temperature and do not alter the operation of the plant roots, which is what causes the plant does not flower or bud.
temperature
The temperature of the house between April and September must be between 70 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit (21 and 27 degrees Celsius) during the day. When the buds are in the fall, if the temperature exceeds 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius), will fall. The night temperature should be between 55 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit (13-18 degrees Celsius) in order to form good bulbs and leaves grow well. Keep plants away from drafts, the cooling or heating ducts and chimneys. If temperatures are extreme, then the blossoms fall.
fertilizer
Christmas cactus flowers
Apply a soluble fertilizer for cactus in water at least once from March to May, when the plant is actively growing. Stop fertilize in June and July, but in August and September . Do not apply the solution in December and February. Use the formula to a quarter of the strength recommended on the package.
problems
If you turn on the lights in a room or car headlights reflected in the window right where the Christmas cactus is, you’re interrupting the hours of darkness that the plant needs, which ends up affecting the buds. If the plant is in a room that these are the conditions, place it in a new place in September, maybe in a dark closet and leave it there for eight weeks before returning it to its original place.
