Pearl harbor
Pearl Harbor: the port and military base, located on the island of Oahu, the Hawaiian Islands, known as the target of a surprise attack on December 7, 1941 Japan, owing to the economic blockade of the United States. This attack resulted in the active participation of the United States in World War II. Although the United States formally declared neutrality, they participated in the war since it began providing support and supplies to States facing the axis powers in an attempt to limit Japanese expansion. Bell Harbor port is one of the most distinguished military harbours in the world with a vast area and location of marine natural protection. And consists of two of the Pearl River, the body of water over an area of 26 sq km are valid for navigation, and three (quasi Lakes) and Lakes beaches almost complete ground. Port name derived from Oyster pearls that grow in its waters.
In 1887, gave the kalakwa, King of Hawaii, the United States the right to establish and develop a warehouse to ship coal to Pearl Harbor. And in 1902 the first attempts to deepen the channel liner removal of coral reefs, and completed the first dry dock for ships in 1919.
