Santa Claus with a bottle of water
The Christmas season brings with it a frenzy by decorating trees, hanging mistletoe and making ornaments. Make your own decorations not only keeps you busy, but it helps you save money and reduce the amount of waste to have a green Christmas. A Santa Claus made a water bottle is excellent for decorating table tops and complementing “the holiday villas” under your tree. Your children and you can make one and decorate each for different parts of the house.

Wash and dry the bottle, remove the labels and adhesives. The bottle should be as clean as possible on the outside. When dry, put inside about 1/2 cup of sand and close the lid tightly. This will keep your Santa Claus falling.

Paint the bottom two-thirds of the red bottle and the top third of skin color. Let the paint dry for about 20 minutes between coats. You’ll need more than one coat of paint on the slippery plastic bottles. Be patient, the second or third layer should achieve completely covered.

Wrap half the red section with black electrical tape. This will be the belt of Santa Claus. Make sure it is straight.

Glue the eyes and red pom pom on the skin color section, these will be the eyes and nose. Take a piece of batting the size of your palm and give way to a bulging beard. Paste it into the bottle just below the nose of Santa Claus.

Cut a triangle of felt (or lency cloth) red twice as wide as the diameter of the bottle and half the height. For a bottle with a diameter of 4 inches (10 cm) you need a triangle with a base of 8 inches (20 cm) and 6 inches (15 cm) on the sides. Fold the triangle in half right, connect them with liquid glue suture. Do not hit the base.

Let sutures dry for about an hour. Turn the triangle inside out. Paste the white pompom on top and a strip of fleece 1/2 inch (0.6 cm) around the edge of the base. Paste the Santa Claus hat on the head.
